How does optimization score work in Google Ads?
Optimization score is a tool that introduces new and relevant features to advertisers. It can also work to optimize the overall performance of your campaigns by suggesting improvements to bidding, keywords, and ad copy. It is only shown for active Search, Display, Discovery, Video Action, App, Performance Max and Shopping campaigns. It is not used by your Quality Score.
Available recommendations and optimization scores may change based on your settings and trends in ads. Applying or dismissing the recommendations changes your opt score.
How to check your optimization score?
Apply or dismiss recommendations
In this page under your score, you will see available recommendations; You can filter recommendations by selecting category name such as
- “All recommendations”
- “Bidding & Budgets”
- “Ads & assets”
- “Keywords & Targeting”
- “Repairs"
Note: Each of them indicates the possible new score after implementing changes.
If you don’t want to apply all the suggestions, you can apply/remove the suggestions one by one. Here’s how to do it:
To dismiss recommendations, select “Dismiss” on the top right corner.
You can dismiss all recommendations of a specific category by clicking the 3-dot icon, then click “Dismiss all”.
Check these recommendations before applying them. Especially on the budget.
You may see some icons next to your score. As Google states these roughly mean:
