If you set up conversion tracking or create a new conversion, Google Ads will ask you to get a tier for these conversions. There are two conversion action levels that help you to decide whether a single conversion action is used for bid optimization.
- Primary action: They are in use of campaign and bidding optimization.
- Secondary action: They are used for reporting and observation,
If you want to bid using Purchase conversion while optimizing your campaigns for your Purchase goal, you should specify that it’s the primary action. In general, we suggest you have only one primary Purchase conversion.
More primary conversions can bring double or triple purchases for ad optimization. That’s why we recommend that you set just one primary conversion after checking the accuracy of the data and leave the others as secondary actions.
Purchase conversion must have one primary. If there are two or more primary, there may be problems with campaign optimizations.
How to Check Primary-Secondary Actions?
Go to “Tools and settings”, then click “Conversions”
If you see more than one “Primary” conversion, you must change them to “Secondary”.
Select the conversion you want to change.
Click on “Edit Settings”, see it is at the bottom-right corner.
Click on "Goal and action optimization"
1. Select “Secondary" or "Primary" from the drop-down menu depending on what you need.
2. Then click "Save".
Click “Done” and all settings are ready.
