With Google’s content policy, your ads are automatically blocked from being seen on inappropriate content. Additionally, content exclusion lets you control where your ads are shown. It even helps you exclude content that may not be appropriate for your brand, even if it aligns with Google policies. Note that this feature may limit your campaign performance.

Type and label categories that are not suitable for some brands may be blocked in Display, Smart Shopping, Performance Max campaigns.

Excluded content types
You can prevent the display of ads in certain content types and can be applied to all campaigns. These content types are:
- Live streaming videos on YouTube
- Embedded videos on other websites
- Parked domains
- Bottom of the fold
- In-video ads
Excluded content labels
These tags allow you to choose the maturity level of the content that can be displayed next to or above your ads. You should remember that the maturity level is not the age of the audience. It can be applied to ALL campaigns. If you select all labels, your ad will not run. Here is digital content labels as Google mentioned:
- DL-G: Content suitable for general audiences (can also choose “Content suitable for families”)
- DL-PG: Content suitable for most audiences with parental guidance
- DL-T: Content suitable for teen and older audiences
- DL-MA: Content suitable only for mature audiences
- Not yet labeled: Content that hasn’t been labeled yet because they haven’t yet completed the classification process
Note: There is also a CSF label for content on YouTube made for kids, such as content intended to be consumed or co-viewed by families.
